SUBSCRIBE, UNSUBSCRIBE & CONTRIBUTE & MISC. INFO ****************************************************************** Introduction & Musings: Welcome to the many new subscribers who have joined us over the last month! So, what's it all about man? Keep On Truckin' Re-Visited is a moderated newsletter/list about the time between the mid 60s and mid 70s. It was designed to examine and present a positive nostalgia of a time since past. It is also designed to provide a forum for you to share your feelings, thoughts and experiences from that time frame. Please participate and help this community to grow. Starting with this issue, I will be featuring a book, CD or movie, related to the 60's and 70s. This month's issue features the book, The Dead: The Definitive Grateful Dead Encyclopedia by Oliver Trager. Check out the info toward the bottom of the newsletter. Please notice that there is only one post to the contributions section of the newsletter this issue. This is actually a reply to a message I sent to them about placing their web site in the newsletter. What is great about this post is all the great ideas and subjects that are touched upon. I would really like to get more activity in this area, so if any of the areas mentioned sparks a thought, emotion or feeling - PLEASE send me your comment - send it to me at . Perhaps next issue we will discover the mystery of the Ripple labels on the tree and how two different stories could end up in the same issue! So, warm up the lava lamp, release the Byrds, put on your love beads, your headband, bell bottomed pants, get yourself in the proper state of mind, kick back, and experience the newsletter. =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+==+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Flash Back At present, I can't think of anything that will invoke a sense of nostalgia like the passing of a great friend with whom you have shared many years of wonderful friendship. So on that note, this issue of KOTRV is being dedicated in loving memory to Michael Guy Van De Valde McNerney. Sharing stories, looking through many picture albums, seeing other old friends and holding the family close gives one many thoughts of years gone. Peace be with you Mike. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+==+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= The whiter the bread - the sooner you're dead. I visited your sister site and subscribed to your newsletter. It's nice to see that there are other sites out there that want to focus on the good that came out of OUR formative years! We get a lot of e-mail, etc. from students all over the world that are interested in finding out more about Woodstock and that whole era. It always astounds me to see what a global effect our era, and Woodstock in particular, had on the world as a whole. We thought that our influence ended at the US border (and maybe Canada, since there were so many of us up there). How could that feeling of love of all mankind, world and inner peace, community, harmony between mankind and nature spill over into nations where we had NO direct contact. We didn't have the web to spread the word...it was all word of mouth. But, we see a great contingency in the spirit and lessons in cooperation that came out of the Woodstock experience that can be found in such far-flung places as Scandinavia, Kuwait, India, Japan, South Africa, Jordan, Yugoslavia, and Brazil. In fact, it seems that the good things from our era are more alive and well in those places than they are here. It is truly awe-inspiring to think that we played such a big part in thinking around the world. The older folks (you know, those damn hippies!) that actually survived it want to know what happened to turn the world (or at least our part of it) on it's axis and led us to the world as we know it today. How could things that changed so much for the worst when we had nothing but good in our minds??? I often think that the drugs, that led to our mind expansion, also made us drop the ball before we made sure that those ideals were made permanent. Thank God, a lot of the younger generation have benefited from the experiences of their parents and are fostering that same spirit of humanity. The only downside that I see in these leaders of tomorrow is that they are into more violent, kill-you-in-a-second type of drugs and the fact that the education/learning is no longer a primary issue. We sought knowledge...for our internal growth and for a greater ability to fight a good, intelligent battle against the powers that be. You are taken much more serious if you can communicate on some sort of educated, well informed level. I try to always encourage those who write to us to learn!!! Learn as much as you can...read constantly...expand your mind with knowledge...talk to others about your ideas. Making informed decisions will change the world back to a better place much faster than ones based upon ignorance. All in all, I find that we are on a positive path for the future. People are fed up with the downward trends in society and are making an effort to bring about the changes that we made so many years ago re-surface. And this time...it's GLOBAL! Thanks again for adding our site to you newsletter. Hope to correspond with others of like mind.
