Yeah. Remember FTA? It stood for Fun, Travel & Adventure and was an Army recruiting slogan. One of my favorite posters showed a long haired bearded hippie wearing beat-up Army fatigues, lighting a joint. It's truly been a long, long time. Remember the song? Kiss me once and kiss me twice and kiss me once again, it's been a long, long time. I know how that chick felt. Please do it again but dammm I'm scared to feel that free again and be so bound by drugs and sex and ROCK AND ROLL. ahem. Sorry, but I tend to get a bit exuberant in recall. You are listening to a 64 year old pre beat , turned seeker of TRUTH, only to find myself involved in Hippest of places at variest times and then looking around to find that the reality assembled about me was ready to fall apart and I'd best "KEEP ON TRUCKIN". Besides, in retrospect, some time ago, I found that a lot of the incentive for my itching feet consisted of the fact that it was a lot harder to hit a moving target than one that just sat there and let you draw a bead on him. More about all that furnished the incentive for movement later. Then again, maybe not. +++++ Date sent: Tue, 19 May 1998 09:25:48 -0500 (CDT) From: "Max G. Swanson" To: hippy@vipgrafx.com Subject: Silly boomer; pTricks are for kids! What folows is a bit long and ponderous for our little nostalgiaklatch. So don't take it too seriously. Life is just a bowl of cherry bombs, right? And sorry about the typos; I have had it with the boomer generation! I'm one of them, and it's just getting to be too too much. Well, as the Firesign Theater asks, "Who am us, anyway?" Oh, we're fun to hang out with most of the time, in spite of those few who play a wicked game of office polititcs. Those who do play that game are out for the kill, and they're often the second or third victim. Most of us just let the manic manic few roll over us. We produce a president who doesn't inhale; he lets Monica do it. We serve in border patrols, entrap third-world fatcats in money-laundering stings and wait for our GS13 rating to come through. It really seemed like we had it together in the early '70's, but the whole crew seems to have lost it. Can anybody find any music for this generation now? You can't even find the truly significant tunes of the period without really diggingb. Try looking for a copy of Country Joe's "Electric Music for Mind and Body." I've only heard one tuen from that album in the last 25 years; thanks, Harry Schierer. Now all we have is that bablum called smooth jazz; don't blame Kennie, blame the listeners. That's about all that need be said, but I reserve the right to ad to this thread. Join me? (Posted to the Espresso Digest, and to the VIP Graphics list. It's a bit long for that format; so Mr. Editor, do your stuff.) P.S. Speaking again of music, does anybody have a copy of "Mr. Fantasy" that's mixed right?
