INTRODUCTION & MUSINGS
Welcome All!
So, what's it all about man?
Keep On Truckin' Re-Visited is a moderated newsletter/list
about the time between the mid 60s and mid 70s. It was designed
to examine and present a positive nostalgia of a time since
past. It is also designed to provide a forum for you to share
your feelings, thoughts and experiences from that time frame.
Please participate and help this community grow.
----------------
When does this thing come out anyway?
Ok, so it's end-month instead of mid-month - hey, what can I say,
as the weather warms up and projects around the house add up,
there is less time to get done what I want to do... well anyway,
here's this month's issue of KOTRV - Should keep you busy until
next month!
Enjoy!

The War and Other Bad Things
We all know the 60s and 70s were not always fun and games,
experiencing the counter culture, running through the grass with
flowers in our long flowing hair, etc. What I would like to do
for the next issue or so is to get some feedback from you all on
the darker side of the time frame. Be it the war in Vietnam or
women's rights, civil rights, etc., let me hear from you about
things that happened to you or your friends.
I know this is quite a departure from the theme, but maybe it
will help to better define what I am trying to do here with this
newsletter. You can't have yin without yang.
Send your thoughts & experiences, good or bad,
to mailto:hippy@vipgrafx.com

To: kotrv-owner@egroups.com
Dear brother,
My name is Kristin Karol Boutilier. But brothers and sisters and
friend-folk call me Moonshadow or Lil. What ever floats your
boat man. Mt mother intended for me to be: sunny rae but my
father wanted no part of that "hippy-crap". Sorry pops I came
out a hippy anyways! I am a free-spirited hippy chic who doesn't
believe in shaving her pits or legs. I am a vegetarian, play
guitar and sing. Believe in peace, love, & bliss, and rock &
roll too. I love most ALL music from the 60s & 70s but mostly
the hippy protest and folk work. I am also a big lover of
reggae. I listen most to reggae and grateful dead. I travel all
over the country in my old chevy pickup bra-less and barefoot
working on organic farms to earn my way. I love animals and
people too. I am studying natural medicine and spend extra time
in my herb garden or else making up herbal remedies and potions.
I have 2 dogs that travel most everywhere with me. I consider
myself born out of due season. What is often times refered to
as a throw-back. My body is only 25 years old but my soul is
old. I feel most comfortable with all things '60s. I believe I
may very well have been at Woodstock in Spirit. Well brother V,
that is a bit of a low-down on this sister. Hope to hear from
you soon. Peace and Bliss. Namaste. Jah Guide. Oh
yes, and keep on truckin' ! Pax, Lil / moonshadow

Last week I reconnected online, with an old friend I have not
seen for over 30 years, when we were both long-hairs living in
Sausalito. At that time, I had just opened a "nostalgia" movie
theatre and he was a graphic artist having designed album covers
for Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles.
His metaphysical personal site invites you to experience another
reality and unlock the secrets that are hidden inside. It is one
of the most thoughtful and beautiful sites we have reviewed.

Here is another interruption to distract you from whatever you
have to do that is more important.
One of our British correspondent's, Tash, just sent me these

operating out of Italy. Tash hosts a site full of his photography

Very interesting. Great sculptures in the spirit of Art Cars,

FEATURED WORDS & TUNES

How to Know God:
The Soul's Journey into the Mystery of Mysteries
by Deepak Chopra
Hardcover - 319 pages (February 22, 2000)
Harmony Books; ISBN: 0609600788
Editorial Review
Amazon.com
God is not a person or a thing but rather a process, according
to world-renowned author and spiritual leader Deepak Chopra. The
purpose of this ambitious book is to assure readers that anyone
can engage in this process--"it isn't a matter of faith,
religious teaching, innate goodness, luck or some other
mysterious factor," Chopra explains. "Our brains are hardwired
to find God." This hardwiring is deftly explored as Chopra lists
the seven ways humans know God and how they correspond to the
anatomy of our human brains. He devotes a chapter to each of the
seven visions of God: "Protector," "Almighty," "God of
Peace,"
"Redeemer," "Creator," "God of Miracles," and "Pure
Being--I am."
In every chapter he asks and answers the same questions for the
readers: "Who am I?" "How do I fit in?" "How do I find God?"
The
format works well, helping to tame this broad discussion while
also illuminating the different personality types that are
attracted to these seven different visions.

FEATURED ALBUM
Natives
R. Carlos Nakai, Peter Kater
Audio CD (February 12, 1990)
Original Release Date: 1990
This is one album in my collection that I keep going back to.
It is the most relaxing music you can find.
Like I say, "To HELL with STRESS!"
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com essential recording
This collaboration with new age keyboard star Peter Kater is the
album that introduced Nakai mainstream record buyers. On its
release, Natives stayed on Billboard's New Age Chart for almost
a year, paving the way for the current renaissance in the Native
flute. Once again the music is totally improvised, with Kater's
romantic melodies and fat, left-hand chord clusters on the
concert grand, providing a fertile environment for Nakai's
flights of improvisational fancy. And although Kater is an
impressive piano stylist, this is clearly Nakai's show; the
brittle tones of his Eagle-bone whistle, and his measured
chanting to the accompaniment of an Algonquin turtle rattle
always move the music to a higher plane. --j. poet
