Results from Drum Solo Survey:
The question:
What was the best all time drum solo from the time frame?
The Answers:
From: Deadfoot13@aol.com

In my opinion I was very impressed by the drum solo performed by Santana's drummer at Woodstock (I am ashamed to say that I do not know the gentleman's name...). I have watched the movie over and over and always stop what I am doing to gape open-mouthed at the screen while he is performing.

Had to be Ginger Baker (w/Cream). Can't think of the song right now but it will come to me. It lasted a good 5 minutes. Don't you hate it when the memory fails you. Ill probably think of it as soon as I send this message.

Hey,My name is Kathryn Saunders. I was born in 1981. So I grew up as a child in Neon and listening to singers like New Kids on the Block...YEACH! But now,I have come to like the decades of the 60's and 70's! I would love to wear ponchos and bell sleeved shirts to school, but nobody else has realized how great those clothes are! I mean what does a T-shirt and Jeans say about somebody? So I love old bands, like The Beatles, The Monkees, Neil Young, CCR, Frank Zappa, and strawberry alarm clock and other types of bands like that. I love this Keep on Truckin' Newsletter, you guys are doing a great Job. Keep on groovin'!
Subject: Sorry, Mitch Ryder

It was probably the summer of 1968, and Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels were most likely on the downside of their commercial popularity. It was a shame because I don't think anyone before or since captured the essence of rock'n'roll, with all of its intensity, passion and fervor as Mitch Ryder.
I was in Gilligan's, in Buffalo, one of those old rock palaces that to the casual observer looked like a warehouse, similar to the Grande Ballroom in Detroit or any other large city's main rock venue which could accommodate hundreds if not thousands of rockers, all sticking to the floor to some degree in the drying spilled beer.
I was looking for someone, frantically, not really knowing who. One of those unexplained mysteries of youth. Not knowing who I was looking for, but sure I would recognize them when I saw them. All the while, Mitch Ryder was on stage, rockin' the place. I vaguely recall that he was wearing a white puffy-sleeved shirt, unbuttoned to the waist, sweat glistening in the stage lights, a pained expression on his face. Hopefully it was pained from all the emotion he put into his songs, and not from playing in another place before a room full of faceless strangers who weren't sure who they were, let alone who Mitch Ryder was.
I never did find who I was looking for that night. It took me years to realize that I was looking for myself. The only regret I have is that I didn't take the time to enjoy the show. Mitch Ryder is one of a kind, one of those people who deserved more than they got. And me, lacking the maturity to appreciate an All-American original.
Sorry, Mitch Ryder.

Dear Vincent,
It's nice to hear from you. My dear friend Claudia Morgan turned me on to your website. You asked about a small Intro on me. Well here you go.
My name is Tommy La Pare, I'm 36 years old. Vice President of a Company in NJ which essentially a sales & marketing organization which sells European Packaging Technology to the North American market. Sound pretty boring huh... It keeps me busy until I can retire to my B&B someday.
Anyway I didn't start out this way. It all began with the Beatles White Album which I brought in for show & tell in 1st grade. Ever since then I've been hooked. The hippie philosophy I mean, next came the 70's..., transcendental
meditation, pyramid power, Ravi Shankar & Bangla desh......etc., etc.
In 1979 I discovered Jerry Garcia & the Dead.....The murder of John Lennon permanently changed my perception of our society....I dropped out for a while, then 150 dead shows later I finally finished college. I've been in the corporate world for the last 6 years, got married, had a beautiful daughter who's my life.....(great wife too!)
I picked up a guitar & learning to play music with my business partner who's learning mandolin & banjo... & here I am today.......
