Whew, the ** First Anniversary Issue ** !!

It's been a crazy year - trying to keep a positive spin on a time in history that was so turbulent with the many the faces of change - war, the riots in our colleges and universities, the corruption of government(s), the many young people who succumbed to drugs, and etc... but, the positive side was so much more wonderful - an extreme time of enlightenment, discovery, the beginning of environmental and social healing, a time of purpose, personal development, and self reliance.. and much more - wow! Keep remembering.

I really want to thank you all for allowing me to share my thoughts and many moments of nostalgia of such a time and for all your thoughtful, wonderful participation. I very much want to thank the many of you who spent the time to share with us your thoughts and experiences.

Special thanks to:

Albi Mason ( mailto:albimason@webtv.net )
From the Jan. '98 Issue - for his wonderful recount of the THE HAIGHT HAPPENING. One could almost hear and smell the the streets of San Francisco from reading his memories. Also, from the Feb. 98 Issue - for his thoughtful follow up of topic suggestions from K, also from the Jan. 98 issue.

Gary of NH for his 60s & 70s ramble in the Sept. 97 issue.

And of course the Ripple girls - we really need to have a follow up with the "rest of the story" someday..

Also, for the UN-OFFICIAL SPONSORS

Thanks to Sandy Bergeson ( mailto:TDC1470@aol.com ) for sending me the REMINISCING game, a nostalgia game which includes booklets from the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's and now the 90's. Very fun.

Thanks D. Bruton ( mailto:dbruton@psychedelicbus.com ) for letting me play his CD game "The Psychedelic Bus of Dead Knowledge" and for letting me give it away via a contest.

And last but not least, thanks to all of you who pointed me to other great sites, lists and ideas, and for all the nice music, books, & video suggestions.

So what do I have planned for the the coming year? Just more of the same. Hope you all stay on and I hope you have time to share yourself with us a little bit of yourself from that time.

Just a reminder - please drop in to Let's Talk!

It would be cool to have some conversation on the war, communes, music, equal rights, ecology, free love, or anything else you might want to share.

Awareness

The man who is aware of himself is henceforward independent;
and he is never bored, and life is only too short, and he is
steeped through and through with a profound yet temperate
happiness. He alone lives, while other people, slaves of
ceremony, let life slip past them in a kind of dream.

Dear Vincent,

Hello here from the UK.

I have a couple of things I wanted to say.

I noticed you included some quotes in this months 'Keep on Truckin' trying to explain what anarchism is/was.

I'm responsible for international stuff for FREEDOM PRESS and am responsible for the http://www.tao.ca/1968 site you mentioned in June. Back in 1968 Nick Walter wrote a pamphlet about anarchism and it is located at  http://www.tao.ca/~freedom/FIN/walter.html.
You may want to check this out.

The other reason I am writing is coz I got into the whole anarchist thang as part of the Woodstock extravaganza. I was wondering if any of your subscribers were *there* and/or if they know of any (Post Modern) retros planned here on the net for next years 30th.

Vince,

Thanks for the announcement about the garden concert. I'm glad we can at least get the flavor of the event over the net. Kinda makes my day, actually. Please keep your fingers crossed for the band CrawlSpace that I'm a part of. We may get the opportunity to be on stage with Blue Oyster Cult at the end of this month in Riverside, Cal. Most of us are in our 40's, and we only perform original music. Our influances are so old, no one can seem to catagorize us. So we'll fit right in with BOC, if the stage gods are with us on this one. If you'd like a sampler CD or tape, let me know. Be more than happy to send one. Keep up the great work on KOTRV. Kudos galore. Anyway, thanks again. Enjoy the show, if you're going. Alvin Lee ought to be a kick to watch nowadays...

Peace,

Fred H

Hope it works out with BOC - if any of you
are in the area, drop in and check 'em out.
